Spick & Span, Beautiful Britons, Spick, Span and 66 were all produced during the 50’s 60’s and early 70’s by Town and Country Publications. They have probably become the most well known titles amongst the many “pocket sized” publications that were available from this era, and also one of the most collectable. The fact that they were produced on a regular basis, with each edition having a number and a date, all combine to the attraction of these beautifully produced little magazines.
Although the early editions featured a well known glamour figure from the stage or screen, this was soon replaced by what they became famous for, the typical “girl next door”, a type of girl that all males could identify with. Looking through the pages of these editions, they appear to be incredibly innocent compared with the explicit glossies available today. Again, another reason why they are now so collectable.

What you should know about photographs from the 50s and 60s.
In that era pubic hair and anything showing in that region was illegal, a lot different to the situation today, dealers went to prison for publishing anything of that nature.
So the photographers would asked all their models to shave and they would be posed in a position where nothing showed that would make the photograph illegal, sometimes this was unavoidable and sometimes the models did not want to shave, so the negative was then used to make a print, this was then retouched to comply with the law and used to produce the magazines. We have the original unretouched Harrison Marks, Arthur Howell, Scotlee and many other original negatives and transparencies which we use to produce the unretouched pictures we sell. You may see similar or even the same picture as ours but these will be of poor quality and will have been scanned from magazines.

The pictures on each CD are in the form of a PDF magazine.
The pictures all ORIGINALS from the ORIGINAL negatives (not to be confused with scans from magazines. almost all the pictures we use are unretouched unheard of when they where published in the 50s and 60s. To see some of the HM models with pubic hair or shaved is a revelation, also a similar experience when you see the Toco (Spick & Span models topless) come in the form of a magazine, install ADOBE ACROBAT READER on your machine, this is a FREE download from www. adobe.com. BUT the PDF will open in some browsers with the same results. The pictures are best viewed actual size.
For convenience multiple copies will be posted on one CD.
A WORD ABOUT OUR DVDs.
The DVDs are in the style of a slide show on a DVD. All pictures are scanned from ORIGINAL negatives/positives. If your computer plays DVDs it will play this DVD. The DVDs also play on our Region 2 DVD player (that's Europe) They should also play on a MULTI REGION DVD player. On our player it's best at 4x3. Widescreen does not look right.
